University College London tried to gag me over two-year ‘harassment’ fight, scientist claims (Evening Standard)

University College London tried to gag me over two-year 'harassment' fight, scientist claims | London Evening Standard | Evening Standard
An award-winning astrophysicist today criticised University College London for trying to silence her after she complained that she had suffered harassment from a staff member.

McAllister Olivarius client Dr Emma Chapman spoke with the Evening Standard about her experience at University College London, where she experienced harassment, made a formal complaint against the university, and was then asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement while settling with the university.

Dr Chapman refused to sign the non-disclosure agreement, saying, “I felt it was a moral obligation — it didn’t sit right with me to sit in silence while campaigning that we needed to break the silence.”

Georgina Calvert-Lee of McAllister Olivarius said Dr Chapman’s case could encourage others in her position to challenge confidentiality clauses.

I will always be grateful for your unwavering support of me. Equally, I will always be grateful for showing me how to find my voice and strength.

Compared with other law firms I’ve worked with, no one matches the combination that McO has of experience, brilliance, ferocious fighting and deep empathy for their clients.

Because my case could not bear public scrutiny, a very powerful institution used massive financial resources to try to crush me for asking for my disability rights. This was a huge mistake, as they didn’t know that I would obtain McO representation. I couldn’t ask for better representation.
