Fern joined McAllister Olivarius as a Legal Analyst on the UK team in January 2024. She holds a First Class Honours degree in Law from the University of Bristol where she wrote her undergraduate dissertation on the reconstruction of androcentric narratives of law in To Kill A Mockingbird and its sequel, Go Set A Watchman. She later completed an LLM in Bar Vocational Studies from City, University of London. Prior to joining McAllister Olivarius, she completed the Master of Philosophy in Criminological Research at the University of Cambridge – her research focused on power and resistance in postcolonial policing.

Fern has substantial experience in criminal justice research, having worked on police custodial deaths with the non-governmental organisation Lawyers for Liberty in Malaysia, as well as a freelance archival and legal researcher focusing on prison riots in the United Kingdom. She previously volunteered with The Defendant in London as a helpline and campaigns executive providing support to those charged with criminal offences, and has also spearheaded educational campaigns on sexual crimes in Malaysia as part of a student group.

In her free time she enjoys reading poetry, making pressed flower trinkets, and hunting for antique and vintage ceramics.
