What is revenge porn?
Revenge pornography is the distribution of intimate images without the consent of the person depicted. Sometimes it’s done by angry ex-partners, other times for blackmail or to make money, or sometimes the motive is unclear. It’s also better called “non-consensual pornography” or “image-based sexual abuse.” The internet has made distribution very easy.
Let’s be clear,
NO ONE SHOULD SUFFER FROM REVENGE PORN OR ONLINE ABUSE
If you’re being victimized by non-consensual pornography, sextortion or other online abuse, you may feel the perpetrator has taken over your life and you’re helpless.
That’s not true.
You CAN take action. You CAN fight back.
McAllister Olivarius is committed to empowering victims of image-based abuse, using the tools the law provides.
Below we provide a number of resources to help you learn more about revenge porn and what you can do to fight back – be that through tightening up your privacy settings, issuing a takedown request to a site, or gathering evidence (which you should always do!) to pursue criminal and/or civil claims.
